Purine 2'-deoxyribonucleosides are compounds consisting of a purine linked to a ribose which lacks a hydroxyl group at position 2. Deoxyadenosine exists as a solid, possibly soluble (in water), and a strong basic compound (based on its pKa) molecule. Deoxyadenosine exists in all living species, ranging from bacteria to humans. Deoxyadenosine is a potentially toxic compound.
